IAAD is an organization which matches needs with resources, and brings
diverse communities together to achieve common goals.
IAAD SERVICES FOR THE INDIAN COMMUNITY
---Newsletter Service: A quarterly on-line newsletter including current
community events, updates on India and Members’ bulletin board for
information/services exchange.
---Seniors Group One of our most active group- it organizes regular meetings
and service projects undertaken by our Seniors Citizens Group. Includes
English and non-English speaking participants.
---Youth Group Another very active group which provides service and self
development activities and cultural activities for our youth.
---Young Professionals Networking opportunities are provided for this
growing segment of our community.
---Newcomers Our Welcome Wagon provides assistance to newcomers to this
area.
---General Services Travel assistance :providing visa forms and links
to the Indian Embassy.
---Information and advocacy relating to immigration matters.
---Medical outreach programs in which experienced physicians share their
knowledge of special medical risk factors with the community.
---Indian language Translation services at Motor Vehicles, courts, etc.
---Database Maintenance – the most comprehensive and current community
database is maintained for informational, service, and non-commercial
purposes.
---Town Meetings or Special Assemblies – these are organized as
needed.
Emergency/Bereavement Services.
---IAAD provides assistance to individuals/families facing special challenges
or tragedies.
---Fundraising for Catastrophic events.
---Special fund raising events are organized to bring relief from major
catastrophic events, such as flooding, earthquakes, etc.
ACTIVITIES FOR NON-INDIANS:
Speakers Bureau: We provide speakers and other educational resources to
local schools and colleges studying about India
Translation/interpretation services: Provided to the Department of Motor
Vehicles, courts, businesses.
Special Educational and Cultural events : Invitations to many educational
and cultural events we sponsor to promote an understanding of Indian culture
and history.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Includes the production of INDIAFEST every two years, a grand, interactive
multimedia festival showcasing Indian food and culture. This event has
grown in scale and we are proud to have maintained an excellent record
of satisfaction and safety. Many distinguished local companies and organizations
have helped sponsor this event.

Organizations which
have benefited over the years from IAAD activities/ fund raisers include
Adopt-a-Highway, Police Athletic League, Red Cross, Ministry of Caring,
Emmanuel Dining Hall/Septimus Decimus.
IAAD is a non-profit
organization without political or religious affiliations.
Our board (consists of fifteen volunteers, a third of who come up for
retirement/reelection each year), our committees, and our membership all
reflect the cultural and religious diversity of India. Annual General
Body meetings provide dues paying members the opportunities to elect new
Board volunteers and to choose committees on which to serve. All activities
are supported through membership dues, voluntary contributions, and fundraising
events.
